Tomato Rice | Tomato Rice In Cooker


Tomato Rice - It is the rice recipe which can be made very quickly and can be prepared in many ways such as by frying in pan or cooking in a pressure cooker.. This is one way of preparing Tomato rice.

I prepared with basmathi rice. You can use normal rice as well. This Tomato Rice is a famous recipe that makes a great one-dish meal that you can serve with Chicken Curry or raitha. Generally I prepare in many ways but this is my favourite one. 


Tomato rice is the perfect dish for lunch or dinner. 

Tips To Make Tomato Rice

1. If you are using basmathi rice by soaking it for 15 to 20mins, then completely strain water and add it.
2. If you don't want to cook in pressure cooker then you can use left over rice.
3. After cooking for 4whistles in high heat let it cook in low heat for 10mins.

Ingredients Required
  • Tomatoes - 4
  • Onion - 1sliced
  • Green chillies - 2 roughly chopped
  • Salt - 3tsp
  • Basmathi Rice - 1cup
  • Red chilli powder - 1tsp
  • Ginger garlic paste - 2tsp
  • Garam masala - 1tsp
  • Oil - 2tbsp
  • Ghee - 1tbsp
  • Cloves - 2
  • Cinnamon - 2
  • Anise flower - 1
  • Cumin seeds -1tsp
  • Coriander leaves
Preparation

1. Add 2tbsp oil, 1tbsp ghee into heated pan.


2. Add cloves, cinnamon, anise flower and any other masala spices, cumin seeds and fry for a minute.


3. Add chopped onion and green chillies and fry till onions are transparent.


4. Add ginger garlic paste and fry for a minute.


5. Then add salt, red chilli powder, garam masala and saute for 2 to 3mins.Masala fried in oil gives good taste to tomato rice.


6. Now add roughly chopped tomatoes, close lid and cook for 4 to 5mins, till tomatoes are soft.


7. Tomatoes are soft now, add coriander leaves and saute for a minute.


8. Add basmathi rice and saute for a minute. I did not soak basmathi rice. I just cleaned once and added it.


9. For 1cup basmathi rice add 1 1/2cup water and check salt at this stage, if required you can add.


10. Close lid and cook for 4whistles in high heat and cook for 5 to 10mins in low heat and turn off the stove and let it cool for sometime.


11. Tomato rice will be ready to serve. It can be served with chicken curry or raitha.
