Chicken Curry | Andhra Style Chicken Curry



Chicken Curry - The most favourite recipe to any non veg lover. Each house have different style of making. The ingredients which we use will give different flavours. I prepare in many ways. 


This is the easiest way and even if you are trying for the first time, you can impress your family members. It will be so tasty and easy to make as well.

Proper way of cleaning chicken


Clean chicken with normal water once. Then add rock salt, turmeric and clean twice. This helps in relieving foul smell. You can add lemon juice too for cleaning chicken.

I'm making this chicken curry in pressure cooker, you can cook normally in the same process. For 1/2kg chicken I'm giving measurements based on the quantity of chicken you can either decrease or increase the ingredients

Tips To Follow For This Chicken Curry

1. Chop onions and tomatoes very finely, then you can get nice gravy.
2. Directly don't pressure cook the chicken, first it should cook normally after 80 % cooked then we need to pressure cook it.

Let's now quickly checkout the ingredients and preparation of this simple chicken curry.

Ingredients Required
  • Chicken - 1/2kg
  • Onions - 3 finely chopped
  • Tomatoes - 2 finely chopped
  • Green chillies - 3 roughly chopped
  • Curry leaves
  • Salt - 3tsp
  • Ginger garlic paste - 2tbsp
  • Red chilli powder - 2tbsp
  • Coriander seeds - 2tbsp
  • Cumin seeds - 1tbsp
  • Star anise - 1
  • Marati mogga - 2
  • Cloves - 4 to 5
  • Cinnamon - 1
  • Elachi - 2
  • Fennel seeds - 1/2tsp
  • Red chillies - 4 to 5
  • Dry coconut pieces - 2tbsp
  • Coriander leaves
  • Oil - 4tbsp
Preparation

1. Clean chicken as mentioned above with rock salt and turmeric.


2. Add salt, red chilli powder, ginger garlic paste, mix all together and marinate for about half an hour.


Masala Preparation For Chicken Curry

1. Add coriander seeds, cumin seeds, star anise, marati mogga, elachi, cloves, cinnamon, fennel seeds, red chillies into a heated pan.


2. Dry roast for about 3 to 4mins and add dry coconut pieces and saute for a minute and turn off the stove.


3. Let it cool completely. Then add all the ingredients into mixi jar and grind into fine powder.


Chicken Curry Process

1. Add oil into pressure cooker.


2. Add finely chopped onion and fry till colour changes.


3. Add marinated chicken and mix all together.


4. Just close lid and cook till chicken is cooked for 50 to 60% without whistle. Mix in-between rarely.


5. Then add finely chopped tomatoes, green chillies and mix all together.


6. Close lid and cook till chicken is cooked upto 80%.


7. Now add curry leaves and the grounded masala and mix all together.


8. Add 1/4th cup water and mix all together.


9. Close lid and cook for 3 to 4 whistles.


10. 4 whistles later chicken curry will be ready.


11. Finally garnish with coriander leaves.


Chicken curry is ready to serve. Enjoy with hot rice or any chapathi roti, or simple vegetable biriyani.
