Sambar Powder

                                         

In this article, I’ll share how to prepare sambar powder. 
Sambar powder recipe  – fresh, aromatic, homemade sambar powder made with roasted spices. Sambar powder is also called as sambar podi in telugu language.

Before making any homemade powder or spice mix, always keep a few things in mind so that you get the best spice blend or masala powder. 

 It is an essential spice mix for almost all sambar soup recipe which makes an essential side dish for most of the south indians. having said that, the same spice mix can also be used for many other recipes like dry sabji, flavoured rice and gravy based curries.

Homemade powders (Garam Masala or Rasam or Sambar or Chat Masala) are very easy to make at home. Homemade Spice Mix Masala Powders Saves time, Easy to make, Free of preservative and additives, Are tastier than store-bought ones. 

This is very beneficial  when you do not want to spend a lot of time in the kitchen. Now lets start this sambar powder preparation. I am sharing my Youtube video here so it would be easy for you to follow

Ingredients Required
  • Coriander Seeds – 1/4th cup
  • Toor dal – 1tbsp
  • Chanadal – 1tbsp
  • Uraddal – 1tbsp
  • Cumin Seeds – 1tbsp
  • Mustard Seeds -1/2tbsp
  • Fenugreek seeds – 9 or 10
  • Black pepper – 1/2tsp
  • Red Chillies – 10
  • Curry Leaves
  • Salt – 1/2tsp
  • Turmeric – 1/2tsp
Preparation
  1. Add coriander seeds, toor dal, chanadal, uraddal, cumin seeds, mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds, black pepper and fry for 2min in low heat
  2. Add red chillies and curry leaves for 3 to 4mins
  3. Add salt and turmeric and fry for a minute
  4. Turn off the stove and let it cool for sometime
  5. Add them to mixi jar and grind to fine powder
  6. Sambar powder is ready
