Uraddal Murukku (Minapa Janthikalu)


In this article, I’ll share how to prepare Uraddal Murukku. 

It is a popular south indian crisp and tasty snack recipe made with a combination of rice flour and urad dal. unlike the other traditional chakli or murukku recipe, urad dal based murukku are much easier to prepare. 

It is one of the sought after snack recipe particularly during the festival season of deepavali or for any other occasions.

murukku or chakli recipes are a common festival snack across india and are made with different types of ingredients. the most common is the rice and lentil-based murukku or chakli which yields a crunchy and tasty snack.

Ingredients

  • Uraddal-1/2cup
  • Rice Flour – 2Cups
  • Salt- 3/4tbsp
  • Raw Red Chilli Powder-3/4tbsp
  • Ajwain- 1/4tsp
  • Warm Water required to make soft dough
  • Hot Ghee-2tbsp
Preparation
  1. Add 1/2cup uraddal into a heated pan and fry for 3 to 4mins
  2. Off the stove and let cool for sometime
  3. Add to mixi jar and grind to fine powder
  4. Add grinded powder to a seive
  5. Add 2cups rice flour, salt, red chilli poiwdr, ajwain and mix
  6. Add 2tbsp hot ghee
  7. Add warm water and prepare soft dough
  8. Let rest for 5mins
  9. Meanwhile make chakli maker ready bu applying oil
  10. Add soft dough into chakli maker and make chaklis on butter paper
  11. Add into hot oil for deep fry
